THE COLLEGE OF BASIC AND APPLIED SCIENCES (CBAS) DONATES TRACTOR AND ACCESSORIES TO THE FOREST AND HORTICULTURAL CROPS RESEARCH CENTRE (FOHCREC)

In commemoration of his first year in office, the Provost of the College, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has presented a tractor and accessories to the Envirodome Project at the Forest and Horticultural Crops Research Centre (FOHCREC). This forms part of the vision to ensure safe and healthy vegetable production. The tractor was given to the College as a result of a request made by the Provost to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA).

The concept of the healthy vegetable production is linked to the Envirodome project, aimed at enhancing quality vegetable production as well as the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement’s (WACCI) Vegetable Innovation and Laboratory Concept.

Receiving the keys to the tractor Prof. George Oduro Nkansah, representing the Head of FOHCREC and also as the Coordinator of the Envirodome Vegetable Project expressed his gratitude for the donation and emphasised the role the tractor would play to achieve the vision of the Envirodome Project. He noted that the donation had come at the perfect time when the WACCI and FOHCREC Envirodome Vegetable Laboratory Innovation Trials at locations such as Tamale, Ada, Ashaiman, Shai Hills and Buduatta have commenced.

Also present at the ceremony were the Director of WACCI, Professor Eric Y. Danquah, the Dean of the School of Agriculture Professor John Ofosu-Anim, the College Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, Coordinator for Envirodome Project, Professor George Oduro Nkansah, Mr. Sampson Addo, Research Development Officer, and other staff of the College.
